Industries We Serve in Calgary and Alberta

Calgary runs on energy, engineering, and manufacturing — and complex products are hard to explain with words alone. Our Calgary 3D animation studio creates technical visuals for the industries that drive Alberta's economy:

Oil & Gas / Energy

downhole tool animations, drilling, completion and production process explainers, SAGD, fracking and pipeline visualizations for trade shows and investor decks

Industrial & Manufacturing

machinery walk-throughs, assembly sequences, and how-it-works explainers from your CAD files.

Engineering & Cleantech

concept-to-render visualizations for products still in development.

Commercial Brands

product visualizations, packaging pack-shots, and broadcast-ready commercials.

Particle, Smoke and Gas, Liquid and more dynamic.

Our specialized motion graphic designers are highly skilled in the latest advancements in 3D graphics and animation and are constantly pushing the boundaries of what is possible.

Story-Board

Option 1

Creating a storyboard involves delving into the details of the project and outlining all the necessary steps. This step helps us to map out the overall structure and flow of the project, ensuring that all elements are covered and nothing is left out.

Modeling

Option 2

Modeling phase, where we create custom-made models of the products and elements needed for the scenes. This step involves building and shaping the objects and characters that will be used in the animation. The models are tailored to the specific needs of the project and are an essential part of bringing the storyboard to life.

Animation

Option 3

The animation process involves bringing the models to life through movement and action. The animation can be done manually or with the help of real-world dynamics to achieve the most realistic look possible. This step is where the storyboard and models come together to create the final animated product.

Lights & Texture

Option 4

This is an essential part of achieving a photorealistic look that will make the animation stand out in presentations. This step involves adding lighting and materials to the models to create a sense of depth, realism, and richness in the final product.

Rendering

Option 5

The final step is 3D rendering, which involves generating high-quality images from the 3D models and animation. We use state-of-the-art render engines such as Octane, Redshift or Arnold to produce photorealistic images that bring the animation to life. This step ensures that the final product meets the highest visual standards.

Post Production

Option 6

Our team adds the final touches to the animation. This includes implementing transitions, color calibration, and adding 2D animation, lower third, and other elements to enhance the overall look and feel of the final product. This step ensures that the animation is polished, refined and ready for final delivery to the client.

Why Calgary Businesses Choose Dante Art Studio

20
Years of
experience

Based in Calgary, Alberta, we work alongside local engineering, energy, and product teams who need to turn dense technical concepts into clear, photorealistic visuals. From a single product render to a full explainer animation, we deliver cinematic-quality 3D using industry-standard render engines (Octane, Redshift, Arnold).

FAQ - 3D Animation Calgary

1. What kind of 3D animation does Dante Art Studio produce?
Product visualizations and digital pack shots, commercial and broadcast-ready spots, 3D explainers and intro videos, industrial and process animations, and motion graphics. We cover the full 3D pipeline in-house — modeling, animation, lighting and texturing, rendering, and post production.

2. Which industries do you work with in Calgary and Alberta?
Oil & gas and energy (downhole tool animations, drilling, completion and production explainers, SAGD, fracking, pipeline visualizations), industrial and manufacturing (machinery walk-throughs, assembly sequences, how-it-works explainers), engineering and cleantech (concept-to-render visuals for products still in development), and commercial brands (product visualizations, packaging pack-shots, commercials).

3. Can you animate a product that doesn’t physically exist yet?
Yes. Concept-to-render visualization is one of our core services. If the product is still in development, we build it from source file data, engineering drawings, sketches, or spec sheets — which is why 3D is often the only way to show a prototype at a trade show or in an investor deck.

4. What does your production process look like?
Six stages: Storyboard (mapping structure and flow) → Modeling (custom models of products and scene elements) → Animation (keyframed or driven by real-world dynamics) → Lights & Texture (photorealistic materials and lighting) → Rendering (Octane, Redshift or Arnold) → Post Production (transitions, colour calibration, 2D animation, lower thirds, final polish).

5. Which software and render engines do you use?
Cinema 4D for modeling and animation, with Octane, Redshift and Arnold as render engines — the industry standard for photorealistic output. Simulations use physics-based solvers, and post is finished to broadcast-ready specs.

6. Can you create fire, smoke, liquid or particle effects?
Yes. We produce physics-driven simulations: fire and volumetric smoke (combustion, flare, ignition, gas flow), liquid and fluid dynamics (pouring, splashing, mixing, pipeline and process flow with correct viscosity and refraction), rigid and soft body dynamics (collisions, fractures, cloth, destruction), and particle systems (sparks, dust, debris, swarms, abstract motion FX).

7. Why use a simulation instead of a simple animation or diagram?
Simulated dynamics communicate combustion, fluid flow and structural behaviour far faster than words or static diagrams. For Alberta’s energy, industrial and engineering sectors, one clear simulation turns a hard-to-explain process into a compelling 30-second story for trade shows, investor decks, training and marketing.

8. How long should a 3D explainer or product animation be?
Most technical explainers land between 30 and 90 seconds; product reveals and logo/intro pieces are typically 10–20 seconds. We’ll recommend a length at the storyboard stage based on where the video will be used — trade show loop, investor deck, website hero, or social.

9. How much does a 3D animation cost?
Pricing depends on scope — number of shots, model complexity, whether CAD is supplied, and whether simulations are involved. We offer free project consultations and will scope an exact quote after a short call about your goals and deadline.

10. How long does a project take?
Timelines are set per project after the storyboard is approved and depend on shot count, model complexity, and simulation and render time. Tell us your deadline up front — we plan the pipeline around it.

11. Do you only work with Calgary clients?
We’re based in Calgary, Alberta and work closely with local engineering, energy and product teams, but the entire process runs remotely, so we take on clients across Canada and internationally.

12. How do we get started?
Send us your project details — product, goal, audience, and deadline — at office@danteart.ca. Consultations are free, and we’ll advise on the right approach before any work begins.
